How can the car be more environmentally friendly than the the bicycle? That’s a joke, right?

Stranger things have happened. In 2021 legislation will come into place requiring all new car engines to meet an emissions limit of 95g/km of carbon dioxide.

The European Cyclists Federation has calculated that cyclists emit 21g/km of carbon dioxide.

If we can encourage 5 cyclists to car pool it will save a few grammes of CO2!

Perhaps the Keirin event where 6 riders race for 8 laps should be replaced by cars racing!

I make this point to show just how complicated the drive to reduce greenhouse gases can be. But we stumble on and allow big industry to delay improvements that will help start to clean up the planet.

VW showed us the lengths they would go to in order to cheat regulations.

Now where are my bicycle clips?
